WEATHER: Last night’s crazy storm left Ontario looking like a Michael Bay movie

Last night’s crazy storm left Ontario looking like a Michael Bay movie
Southern Ontario is the latest target of Mother Nature’s wrath, with 100km/h winds wreaking havoc throughout the area.

Well folks, Mother Nature is pissed.

First she pummeled Buffalo, N.Y. with around six feet of snow, leaving thousands trapped, stranded and cold. But last night, she came for southern Ontario. The whole area was hit with howling winds that left almost 87,000 people without power at its peak. There was even some flash flooding in Kitchener. Maybe it’s global warming, or maybe it’s Old Man Winter, but something definitely seems to have her forecasts in a knot. Here’s a look at the damage that was done by last night’s incredible winds:

Shady Records Plans To Drop Huge Mixtape In Support Of "Shady XV"

We'll be getting a big mixtape from Shady Records before the new album arrives.

Eminem and his team at Shady have really stepped up their efforts in the roll-out of their compilation double-disc album, Shady XV. Rightly so, as the album celebrates 15 years of Shady Records. After giving us a cypher withSlaughterhouseYelawolf and Eminem, plus some short black and white cartoons, we'll be getting one more piece of content presumably before the album arrives on Monday: a mixtape.
During a podcast, DJ Whoo Kid and Paul Rosenberg confirmed the mixtape, revealing it would likely be 66-tracks. The project is being put together by Whoo Kid, who said, "You guys gave me 130 records. Physically, you can’t fit all of them on 80-minute CDs, so we had to do a double disc."
"Well there's like 66 [tracks]," Whoo Kid says of the mixtape, "3 hours [of music]."
"We figured since there's gunna be so many people that are saying why didn't this song make it, why didn't that song make it, we'll just do something to please everybody," Paul Rosenberg says of the mixtape endeavor. So if you're favorite Em record isn't on the Shady XV best of disc, you'll likely find it on this mixtape.
Are we all excited for this? Listen to the podcast below.

Hip Hop News: Kendrick Lamar talks with Power 106.

Kendrick Lamar Talks "I," Pharrell & Possible Collabo With Lil Wayne

Kendrick Lamar's interview spree isn't over just yet. Back in the West Coast after doing a run of interview in the East Coast, the rapper sat down with Power 106 to discuss "i" once more (if you haven't heard enough on that subject yet), as well as the power his lyrics hold, and doing something different (with the single "i"). He discusses getting Pharrell's co-sign for the record, and being unsure of the public's reception to it.
They also try to get some info on Kendrick's upcoming album, but he remains tight-lipped, as he has been doing. Nonetheless, before the interview's up, we do get a small tidbit of info from K. Dot. He may or may not have an appearance on Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V.

Hip Hop News: J. Cole Launches Contest For "2014 Forest Hills Drive" Listening Party In His Childhood Home

J. Cole surprised fans this weekend when he announced his new album,2014 Forest Hills Drive would be available as soon as December 9th. This wasn't the only unexpected news from the rapper, who explained that the title of the record is actually the address of his childhood home, which he recently bought back.
Cole had one more announcement to make, which he did today, inviting fans to the first listening party for his new album. Through a message on his site, the NC rapper opened a contest, stating that entering was the ONLY way one could be present at the event.

Read his full message below, and enter here.
What's good? This is Cole. I just bought my old crib back. This is the house I started rapping in at 13 years old. 2014 Forest Hills Drive. As a kid, moving into this place changed my life in so many ways. Too many to type. Unfortunately, the house was foreclosed from my mother when I was 18 and I always dreamed of buying it back one day for closure. It's the first house I have ever owned.

My new album is called 2014 Forest Hills Drive. I'm not dropping any singles. I want you to hear the album straight through, front to back. The only way to hear the album before it's release is to enter for your chance to be invited to my house, 2014 Forest Hills Drive Fayetteville, North Carolina 28303. There are very limited spots. Good luck.

And please take your shoes off before you walk in my crib!!!

On Another Note.

A new Cole album is just weeks away.

Now available for pre-order on iTunes2014 Forest Hills Drive is officially slated for a December 9th release date, putting Cole head-to-head with Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V. No word yet on what music is going to be make the LP, but the iTunes order does confirm that the project will have thirteen tracks, so Cole fans should have a lot to look forward to.
In addition to providing the pre-order link via his official Twitter page, Cole also released a short documentary announcing the album's release and concept. The project will produce no pre-release singles.

Local News: Disciplinary charges dropped against Hamilton cop

Hamilton police have withdrawn disciplinary charges against a constable previously charged with assault because of low probability of conviction.
Const. Steven Wowk was charged earlier this year with assaulting the same woman during two separate incidents – one June 2010 and the other October 2013, while he was off duty. In August the crown withdrew the two assault charges after Wowk entered into a peace bond, promising to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
During a brief Police Services Act hearing by teleconference Tuesday morning police lawyer Marco Visentini said he also spoke with the woman, who said she did not want to participate in any disciplinary hearing.
Citing the complainant's wishes and the dropped criminal charges, Visentini said there was not a reasonable prospect of conviction. Two counts of discreditable conduct were withdrawn.
Hamilton Police Association representative Mike Cruse offered no comment for the defence.

Local News: Large Condo Development In Kitchener.

KITCHENER — Kitchener council approved a major downtown condominium development Monday, despite the threat of an appeal of its decision to the Ontario Municipal Board.
The Momentum development would replace four commercial developments at100 Victoria St. S. with two residential towers, one 14 storeys and one 18, atop a three-storey podium of offices and shops.
City planning staff recommended approving the developments, which they say is precisely the kind of development the city wants to attract along the planned LRT route: a high-quality development that brings more residents in areas close to the future transit line, within walking distance of shops, offices and other amenities.
But Owen Allerton, who owns five properties on Arthur Place, the street next to the Momentum development, said the nearest Momentum tower, which is proposed to be 7.6 metres from the property line, is too close and will wipe out any possibility of putting up a tower on his properties at some future date.
He argued that the city needs to draw up guidelines on how far apart towers must be before council approves the Momentum development. He urged council to hold off approving the Momentum development until city planners draw up tower separation guidelines, likely in about six months. He warned that if council approves the development, he would appeal the decision to the board.
But imposing such a rule this late in the game threatens the entire development, Momentum warned.
"If we start introducing any regulations of this magnitude, that puts the entire project in jeopardy," said Chris Pidgeon, speaking on behalf of Momentum. Pidgeon said Momentum also plans to appeal to the board if the city deferred approval, 18 months after the developer began working with the city on the project.
Coun. John Gazzola moved a deferral until May, in the hopes that the parties could work out a solution or the city could come up with new guidelines, but that motion was defeated 7-3. Council then approved the original proposal, with the tower some six metres from the property line.
"We need to make a decision based on the planning principles that we have," said Coun. Berry Vrbanovic.
The developer argued that it has made many changes to its design in response to concerns raised by Allerton, and that it's not reasonable to ask Momentum to wait for some future rules to be in place.
